OUR STORY
Meet our founder — Kiran Pereira
Born & bred on the tropical Caribbean island of Trinidad, which she still adopts as a homebase to run her boutique luxury travel advisory, Kiran has been a wanderer for as long as she can remember — traveling at a young age for family vacations & as part of her country’s national tennis team introduced her to the magic of exploring the world & sparked her profound love affair with immersing herself in its many cultures. With exquisite taste & a long-time love of the finer things in life, it’s no surprise that Kiran found her niche in the world of luxury, yet authentic, travel. A true foodie at heart, most of her travels revolve around good food & better wine. Having traveled extensively to over 50 countries across all continents except Antarctica, Kiran is committed to personally seeking out the most authentic & exclusive experiences for her clients in every corner of the globe. With a degree & background in civil engineering, Kiran’s organized nature & acute attention to detail are what set her apart as the premier curator of all things luxury travel. After years in the corporate world designing offshore platforms in the oil & gas industry, in 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic which brought the travel industry to its knees, Kiran decided to follow her dreams & founded Wanderluxe by Design merging her design experience & her passion for travel to create a luxury travel service which designs extraordinary bespoke adventures for the most discerning clients. As someone who loves the planning process as much as she loves jetting off to the next coveted destination, no matter how big or small your travel dreams are, Kiran is thrilled to make them a reality – stress free!
Q&A with Kiran
Q: What’s your favorite type of trip to design for your clients?
Honeymoons, bucket-list adventures, food & wine-centric trips, any & everything Africa!
Q: Favorite destination?
This is a tough one — impossible to choose just one! I’d say my top 5 are South Africa, Italy, Thailand, Mexico & Turkey
Q: Hotels you could live in?
Borgo Santo Pietro, La Residence & The Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club
Q: What are the things you absolutely cannot travel without?
My Away Bigger Carry-On, Fresh Sugar Lip Balm, Aēsop Resurrection Rinse-Free Hand Wash, my Canon DSLR to capture priceless memories & my laptop because no matter where in the world I am, I’m always there for my clients!
Q: What’s currently top of your wanderlist?
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda, exploring the rice terraces in Bali & watching the sun set over Santorini!
Q: What’s one piece of travel advice you give to your clients?
Don’t try to see & do everything – take time to enjoy the trip instead of rushing around ticking off items on a list – delight in a long lunch & savor that glass of rosé (or two)! Save all the top sights, restaurants, cafés that you want to visit on your Google maps. That way, when hunger strikes while exploring, you’ll know what’s good nearby. But also, don’t be afraid to put the map away & get purposefully lost!
Q: Why do you do what you do?
“Not all classrooms have four walls” – I believe that purposeful travel can change the world for the better. There’s no better way to broaden your horizons & learn to appreciate new perspectives, cultures and cuisines than experiencing them for yourself. Nothing makes me happier than applying my greatest passion & expertise to design unforgettable, inspiring travel experiences for my clients.
